Google-Xreal's XR glasses are finally up for grabs

Xreal and Google have made their Project Aura glasses, now called the Xreal Aura, available for pre-order.

The Android XR device can be reserved for $99 today, with a full launch planned in the US, UK, Japan, Canada, and South Korea this fall.

The move brings consumers one step closer to owning these innovative smart glasses.

The Xreal Aura is powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip, the latest XR platform from the tech giant.

The chip, along with Google's Android XR, is expected to deliver "better immersive experiences, higher performance, greater intelligence, and improved power optimization," according to Qualcomm's XR head Ziad Asghar.

Weighing less than 95gm, the glasses also come with a virtually borderless 70-degree field of view (FOV), sensors for hand-tracking support, and AI capabilities.

The Xreal Aura also features the company's X1S Spatial Coprocessor for low-latency spatial display and sensor processing.

With Android XR, users can access the Google Play Store and download mobile/tablet apps on their smart glasses.

Over 100 apps specifically designed for XR are already in development, promising an exciting future for this innovative device.

Apps coming to the Xreal Aura

Xreal has already teased some of the apps coming to the Aura. These include games like Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars and Fallout: Factions, as well as educational tools like Simply Piano XR.

The glasses also come with the Fox Sports XR app for immersive live sports and highlights, making it a versatile device for entertainment and learning alike.

Launch details

Consumers can pre-order the Xreal Aura today on Project Aura's official landing page for $99.

As part of a limited-time two-week launch offer, reserving customers will get a $199 credit toward their purchase at launch later this year. This would save them $100 on the final price.

The company has also introduced a $299 special pass for early adopters, guaranteeing launch-day delivery in supported regions.
